Thoughts on A Thousand Kisses and High Kick Episode 3

Just felt like jotting down a few random thoughts after a long day of work. Seriously, sometimes I think keeping my figurative fingers dipped in Korean dramas is what keeps me sane...although they are also the reason why I am stressed for time sometimes...ah, my double-edged sword. :P

Anyhow, it seems as though High Kick 3 Episode 3 did not air today--possibly preempted by something in Korea--so I'll look for it tomorrow and post the episode then.

As for A Thousand Kisses, I hope you guys are loving it as much as I am. I can't seem to get over how adorable Woo Jin and Joo Mi are together. OK, I'll concede that Woo Bin and Joo Young are cute, too. I usually look forward to the weekends, but this series makes me anticipate Saturday and Sunday all the more. :)

As a rule, I tend to stay away from heavy melodramas with convoluted plots and people backstabbing each other; I dislike angst and drama in my life and really dislike seeing it on dramas. Why? Because dramas are my escape from reality to what I like to call my Happy Place. Hence, I keep my distance from highly popular yet angst-driven long dramas like Smile, Dong Hae even though my family members watched it every night while it was on the air.

With Saturday approaching in just a few days, I'm anticipating yet another solid and entertaining episode and ultimately keeping my fingers crossed that A Thousand Kisses remains a joy to watch despite the looming conflict of having to deal with Joo Mi's biological mother who is now Woo Jin's stepmother...reminds me of a plot twist worthy of Charles Dickens. I don't know how the writers are going to resolve this tangle, especially since it seems as though Joo Mi's grandmother still harbors bitter (or are they simply conflicted) feelings about her former daughter-in-law. (On a side note, I think it's a testament to the actress' acting abilities that she can play two radically different roles simultaneously--one as Woo Jin's demure and long-suffering/patient stepmother in this series and the other as Moo Won's outrageously hilarious and ambitious mother in Protect the Boss.) Despite my hopes of Woo Jin and Joo Mi's marriage happening without any bumps, I can only wait and hope that the grandmother or the chairman doesn't throw a wrench in their relationship. Just trying to think of the relationships post-marriage is enough for a headache. What would Joo Mi call her biological mother who also happens to double as her stepmother-in-law? Also, how much more complicated will the relationships be once Woo Bin and Joo Young's relationship get added to this mix? Oy~

Anyhow, enough of my ramblings. The clock's about to strike midnight, and this little Twinkie needs to go to sleep. G'night, everyone!

  1. My same thought exactly. I'm looking forward to how the writers will resolve this "yet to be unveiled to the characters" conflict regarding Woo Jin's stepmother/Joo Mi's biological mother. I love all the characters but I am rooting for Woo Jin and Joo Mi to live happily ever after. I am also looking forward to Woo Jin finally showing Joo Mi love and romance--showing her how much she means to him in action and in words. Sigh! Thanks so much for recapping and I hope you continue to recap this drama. I've checked out other sites and yours is the only one doing it. Kamsahamnida! :)

  2. Me2 - I dislike angst, greed, revenge and melodramas (except Cinderella's Sister where Moon intrigued me with her awe dropping performance of a twisted young lady). I like simple n silly romance comedy kdramas as an escape from reality to fairytale. Throughly enjoying A Thousand Kisses and your recaps.

  3. Thank you very much for your recap, without you I don't know where to turn to. I really like this drama, the story so real. I can't wait for the next episode to come, I want to see both sisters show up at the families me et so their mom can see them. I know the mom's had made a huge mistake but sometime you can not control your feeling.
